The HeadBlade Story

Quotes from Todd Greene, President, HeadBlade.com

Can you please tell us some background about your store?

We’ve gone through 3 site designs; the last major revision was November 2007. At that point I had the site remapped to include the store navigation bars integrated with the homepage. When I originally set up the company, and store, I needed one that I could do myself. In 1999 we only sold online. Now we are in over 10,000 retail sales but have a strong online business selling accessories and gear not available in retail.

What were you looking for in an online shopping cart system?

I needed to use a system that I could update and manage myself. The year was 1999 and I wanted a system that I could trust. At the time Miva was offered with ValueWeb hosting, so I signed up after researching multiple cart companies.

Why did you choose Miva Merchant?

I did a lot of research and liked the layout. I also understood the graphical layout and appreciated the ease of use. I had previously worked in Seattle as an artist for a software company so I knew photoshop very well. This was important in taking the original photos and editing to set up the store.

What do you believe is the greatest advantage of Miva Merchant?

I like the customer support and they understand the importance of keeping a store ‘live.’ There is also a great support community. I like that there are so many independent developers that share a passion for Miva. If a module doesn’t exist, and you want it, there is someone who will create it.

HeadBlade Stats:

  • Launch Date: We’ve been a Miva customer since I first started HeadBlade in 1999. We sell over 120 items in the store.
  • Web Host: Hostasaurus
  • Store Development: Darryl Ohrt’s company Think Plaid did the original layout design for the look and feel then we hired Tor Naerheim Brand Design to program the site and integrate the store.

Modules Used:

We used Gift Certificates, Coupons, and our newest module created teams up the Affiliate System Manager with a Gift Certificate. To the HeadBlader Affiliate this means taking the unique 4 digit code they get when signing up for the program, and writing it on any promotional hand out. The hand out (and code) works as a 20% discount for any online purchase. When the code is used (by anyone) the Affiliate earns 10% store credit on a future HeadBlade purchase.
