Store Spotlight: Tate’s Bake Shop
Valentine’s Day, a holiday synonymous with love, romance, and sweet treats is only weeks away. Since the age of eleven, Kathleen King, Founder and President of Tate’s Bake Shop, this week’s Store Spotlight, has been a professional baker specializing in cookies, brownies, pies, and more.

From a small brick-and-mortar bake shop in Southampton, New York that grew into a thriving Mecca for cookie connoisseurs, Kathleen King’s passion for baking has made Tate’s Bake Shop a nationally recognized name and the subject of features in many magazines and newspapers, including Newsweek, The New York Times, Everyday With Rachael Ray, InStyle, and The Washington Post.
Since 2006, Tate’s Bake Shop has sold its signature cookies and other desserts online. In 2010, they chose Miva Merchant as their shopping cart platform.

“When we decided to revamp our ecommerce site, our goal was to enhance our customer’s shopping experience.” says Lisa McConnell of Tate’s Bake Shop. “We were interested in giving the customer the ability to place an order with multiple ship-to addresses as well as the option of creating an online address book customers could refer to and add to each time they shopped the site.”
From the online store, customers can choose from pies, cakes, cookies, squares, and assortments of various items, as well as various breakfast baked goods including coffee cake and tea cakes. Tate’s Bake Shop also offers special corporate gift order services and pricing.
“We wanted simple, clear navigation and a simple, fast way for customers to complete their transactions,” adds Lisa. “The nature of the Miva Merchant software, with its modules, seemed to best lend itself to delivering the features we were looking for at a reasonable cost.”
