Store Spotlight: DIY Upholstery Supply

Posted by Miva Merchant to Store Spotlight on July 16th, 2009

The Store Spotlight needs a remake, I’ve gathered some Do-It-Yourself (DIY) material from DIY Upholstery Supply & Charlebois Fabrics, and I’m going to re-upholster the whole thing.  Luckily, their site carries a copious amount of fabrics and styles, so my imagination can run rampant on the redesign.  Like many stories, DIY Upholstery Supply started with an unsure beginning, a jump into the possibilities for success. In the tradition of happy endings, they created wonderful products for their store and website, making them standout in the upholstery world.

DIY Upholstery Supply & Charlebois Fabrics

Kris Charlebois’s career started in an upholstery shop.  Instantly, he found a connection with the creations derived from his hard work.  He decided to take this bond and begin his own business.  Heading to New York, Kris opened his shop and began to attract customers.  When you love your product, the quality of workmanship and dedication shines through, so much so that customers recognize it and become part of that bond.  As his business grew, so did his love; he met his wife, Dotie.  They moved to Mississippi and broadened their upholstery store to support and supply.  It is their belief, that with patience and drive, anyone can become an artist.

DIY Upholstery Supply’s inventory is teeming with material that will have any designer salivating.  Their array of upholstery fabric, from colors to patterns, is awe inspiring.  Browsing through them will have you ready to redo every room in your house.  They stock drapes, tassels, curtains, rods, faux leather and a slew of other products, including upholstery tools, to keep you upholstering successfully.  One of my favorite parts of the site is the pillow section.  Yep, create your own pillows as fluffy and as colorful as you like.  That’s money well spent.  The other section I thoroughly enjoy is the chair and ottoman page.  Get a custom built frame to upholster and finish.  They next time company is over, point to the chair he or she is sitting in and say, “I designed that.”  What a great feeling.

The customer service at DIY Upholstery Supply is miles above par.  They have a link on their site to a Do-It-Yourself forum, where they are active members—supporting a community of fabric artist.  If you have a question, shoot DIY an email and they’ll try and give you an answer.  With 30 plus years of upholstering experience, odds are they have one for you.  Their site resources include the Yardage Chart, a useful tool for an amateur or professional do-it-yourselfer.  Another fantastic component of the site is their How-To Videos.  Learn the basics of upholstering from the comfort of your living room with these quality and informative videos.

If you’re sick of staring at that stain on your couch, or you simply want a new style in your bedroom, head over to DIY Upholstery Supply. You will find everything you need for the next project from furniture legs to upholstery nails to the customer service they offer make it a shopping experience you won’t soon forget.  Thanks to their great fabrics, the Store Spotlight looks better than ever.  Do the same with your space by enlisting the help of DIY Upholstery Supply.
