Store Spotlight: Coolest Kids Furniture
The stage is set. A hush comes over the audience as the house lights fall. Echoing steps ricochet from the stage and tumble through the air. A slight pause before the spotlight hits center stage. Standing in the revealing light is this week’s store, Coolest Kids Furniture. It’s time to highlight your child’s living space with stylish and tasteful furnishings.
Landing on Coolest Kids Furniture immediately rouses your inner child and the playful, stress-free memories of childhood come rushing back. Dropping in on the baby furniture section reveals colorful furniture sets perfect for your nursery. Regular site visitors are likely most interested in what’s new which happen to be desks & book cases designed for a kid’s room. You may even discover the gender specific motifs, like the girl’s tea set and the boy’s truck themed nursery.
The rocking chair section is immense, the designs are simply staggering. The regular chairs are wonderful, but I personally enjoy the themed pieces. Chairs shaped like horses or pirate boats are guaranteed to spark a child’s imagination. They have more decorative chairs, meant for reading or straight relaxation. My favorite chairs are the Harley-Davidson motorcycles: the thrill of cruising down the boulevard emanates from the furniture’s realistic design.
For kids and pre-teens, Coolest Kids Furniture carries also carries kids bedding that can be fitted to the numerous bunk beds or singles beds, then matched with bookshelves and dresser drawers. If your child is artistic, they sell easels for drawing or painting. You can also find dressers, computer desks and tables to complement their child’s room.
In the play furniture section of the store, they stock play sets and tableau pieces. Designed to resemble a yellow school bus, the faux jungle-gym is a wonderful piece of outdoor furniture that stirs imagination and exercise into one glorious activity. Your children will be playing for hours on end. For rainy or hot days, there are doll houses or castle sets to keep children away from the television and captivated in a fantasy land room.
You might be surprised to find out that Coolest Kids Furniture launched this year on Miva Merchant 5.5 from a couple of Miva Merchant veterans, Susan and Peter Petracco, who have been using the shopping cart software since 1999. After ten years the Petracco’s have become very familiar with Miva Merchant, “Miva Merchant development has become such a known, repeatable process for us that, when we can levy our own requirements, we can knock out the actual store design and implementation in a few short weeks. Miva Merchant makes the web site easy to create. If only we had such ease of use with Excel when trying to populate the categories and products! In all seriousness, though, the fact that we find Miva Merchant so easy to work with allowed us to focus our resources on the business itself - sourcing products, marketing, fulfillment, etc.” according to Susan.
After blushing from the glowing comments I wanted to know what has been the most challenging piece of Coolest Kids Furniture for Susan & Pete. The furniture actually ships from multiple warehouses around the United States; Susan went on, “Being able to provide accurate shipping rates for white glove and freight delivery to different parts of the country is something we’re still figuring out, piece by piece. As it grows more complex, our need for different shipping calculations on the site has changed. At some point I think we’ll have to write a custom shipping module, or do some extensive setup work using Shipping Supermod, to get all the pieces playing together nicely.”
Even though the shipping has been challenging several other business pieces have melded together nicely. Susan explained how they have two sites using Miva Synchro for accounting integration and ShipWorks to track orders on one website. Also adding in other third-party solutions for analytics, marketing, SEO, customer service and custom shopping cart features with modules has been easy.
My absolute favorite quote from Susan though has to be:
“I think that it’s nearly impossible for us to outgrow Miva Merchant.”
Rock on!
